Adolph & Gerda Rothchild opened their bakery in August of 1951 and introduced Denver to delectable European pastries, breads and cakes. Adolph was the creative genius at the bench and the ovens, while Gerda greeted each customer with a warm smile. Over the years, while still baking the wonderful European treats introduced by Adolph, Child's broadened its line of baked goods to include wedding cakes. Today, wedding and special occasion cakes is what Denver area residents associate with the name "Childs".
